"A Tribute to Milford Homer Wensel & All Who Served"
by
Denny Wensel

My brother Milford Homer Wensel gave his life in Vietnam in June of 1969 and I always held him and those who served in very high gratitude for their service.  I even wrote a little something about it.

Proudly old glory waved in their hearts
One by one they were drafted
They came from all walks of life
East, west, north and south from our citys and hills
Men and women didn't know what  bravery really was
But soon they would find out
Took up arms to defend what was right
No matter what they had to face they did the fight
family,friends they would leave behind
Young men and women growing up real fast
They didn't have time to enjoy life like others would
But they were willing to give theirs
Though the hills and swamps they would fight
Everyone till their last breath if necessary
They would become friend, family and comrade's
Some would stand by holding one and crying as he or she dies
A bond for life they would make with one another
A bond that nothing or no one would take
These are young men and women.
They would give all and some would fall there
Yes they stood in front of our flag {not behind it}
And the ones it made it back home
They be the ones to tell you the real heroes died there
But I'm telling you they all were
Every men and women that carried memories of Vietnam
Some good, some bad and some they would just like to forget
So if you are like me stand up and be proud of the men and women that made you free
Because they were the real ones it fought for freedom
